Dustin Peck Arrested, Maxine Carstedt Killed in Phoenix DUI Crash

 
PHOENIX, AZ (November 9, 2023) — A 77-year-old woman identified as Maxine Carstedt died in a car crash on Saturday, November 4.
 
According to the Phoenix police officers, the crash took place on Beardsley Road and 7th Avenue at about 10 p.m.
 
The initial investigation determined that 36-year-old Dustin Peck drove east on Beardsley Road, approaching 7th Avenue. Then he ran a red light. After that, he hit a median and then the vehicle Carstedt drove, which faced north and stopped for the red light.
 
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Peck with minor injuries. They also found Carstedt with serious injuries. However, Carstedt did not survive and died at the scene.
 
Authorities said alcohol was a factor in the crash. They then arrested Peck and ultimately charged him with manslaughter and drinking under the influence.
