Matthew Wilson Identified in Fatal Single-Car Crash in Tempe

 
TEMPE, AZ (August 29, 2024) – Officials identified 28-year-old Matthew Wilson who died in a crash on Loop 101 on August 8.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near University Drive around 4:00 PM. Based on a report, Wilson was driving a car when he collided with a power pole and his car burst into flames.
 
As a result, Wilson sustained grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
No one else was hurt in the incident.
 
Crews closed University Drive while investigators looked into what led up to the crash. Police believe impairment was a factor.
