Matthew Castaneda Died in Martin County Crash

 
MARTIN COUNTY, TX (February 21, 2025) – Matthew Castaneda died following a crash on State Highway 349 and County Road D2051 on Monday afternoon, February 10.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal incident happened around 4:15 p.m.
 
Initial investigation reported that a semi-truck with trailer was heading northbound when it stopped on SH 349 in the inside lane in an attempt to turn west onto CR D2051.
 
At the same time, a Nissan truck was also traveling northbound on SH 349 in the inside lane and struck the rear of the semi-truck’s trailer.
 
43-year-old Castaneda, the driver of the Nissan, died at the scene.
 
The driver of the semi-truck was not harmed.
 
Investigation into the incident remains open and active.
