Martin Padilla Dies in DUI Crash on Temescal Canyon Road

 
TEMESCAL VALLEY, CA (February 2, 2023) – 47-year-old Martin Padilla of Hemet died after a car crash on Temescal Canyon Road on January 27.

According to the Corona Fire Department, the fatal collision occurred at approximately 4:45 a.m. near Leroy Road.

Based on reports, a 2014 Ford Focus was heading south when for unknown reasons he crossed into the northbound lanes. Soon after, he crashed head-on with another vehicle that was then driving northbound.

Authorities later identified the driver of the Focus as 30-year-old Daniel Saul Cortez and the other driver as Padilla.

Responders found Padilla trapped inside his vehicle when they arrived. He sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Cortez suffered minor injuries and was arrested while hospitalized, CHP say. He will be booked into Robert Presley Jail in Riverside.

Investigation revealed that Cortez was driving under the influence when the crash happened.

Authorities shut down the Temescal Canyon around 8:00 p.m. while the investigation was ongoing.
