Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Crash on 76 Freeway near E-470

 
Brighton, CO (July 13, 2023) — A man suffered fatal injuries in a pedestrian accident on the 76 Freeway on Friday, June 30.
 
According to the Brighton Police Department, the crash happened in the eastbound lanes of the 76 Freeway near the E-470 ramp. Police said the driver in a Jeep Cherokee struck the unidentified male shortly after 2:30 a.m.
 
The driver of the Jeep called the authorities and attempted to render aid with another motorist.
 
The pedestrian died at the scene. The Adams County Coroner’s Office has not yet released his identity pending family notification.
 
Authorities have not reported any other injuries in the incident.
 
Investigators do not suspect speed or impairment as a contributing factor in the collision. They also have not released why the pedestrian was on the highway.
 
Officers closed the eastbound lane of the freeway for several hours because of the crash.
