Logan Hernandez Dead, Aaron Potten Arrested after Payson Rollover Crash

PAYSON, AZ (August 15, 2024) — A 19-year-old Payson teen identified as Logan Hernandez died in an off-road vehicle accident on Sunday, July 28.

According to the Gila County Sheriff’s Office, the rollover crash happened shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Doll Baby Ranch Road.

GCSO said 33-year-old Aaron Potten, of Strawberry, drove a modified older model off-road vehicle and Hernandez was the front passenger. Then Potten allegedly lost control and rolled over on Doll Baby Ranch Road.

Neither Hernandez nor Potten wore a seatbelt. The incident ejected Hernandez at about 40 feet from the vehicle.

Two rear passengers, a male and a female, received treatment for their minor injuries. They both wore seatbelts.

Hernandez was still alive when officers arrived at the scene. Then paramedics brought him to the Payson airport to be airlifted to a Phoenix area trauma center. However, he succumbed to sustained injuries before the flight could leave.

Meanwhile, paramedics brought Potten to Banner Payson Medical Center for minor injuries. Then they transported him to a Valley hospital for further treatment.

After his medical release, officers brought Potten to the Gila County Jail and booked him on a charge of manslaughter.

Authorities suspect impairment and speed as factors in the rollover incident.
