Levander Smith, Jovan Orozco, Luis Gamez, and Adrian Palacio Killed in Truck Accident on South 48th Way near 28th Street

 
YUMA, AZ (January 14, 2025) — 19-year-old Levander Smith and three other men died in a truck accident on Wednesday, January 8.
 
According to the Yuma Police, the incident happened near the 2800 block of South 48th Way, near 28th Street and S Avenue D at around 2:50 a.m.
 
Yuma Police said Smith drove a Dodge Ram pickup truck south on Avenue D. After that, he left the roadway and rolled through a brick wall. Then it ultimately struck a nearby home.
 
Four men inside the vehicle died at the scene. On Friday, officials identified the four victims as 19-year-old Smith, 20-year-old Jovan Orozco, 20-year-old Luis Gamez, and 22-year-old Adrian Palacio.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics brought two other passengers to the hospital with injuries and are expected to be OK. Authorities identified them as an 18-year-old man and a 20-year-old man.
 
Police said there were three people inside the home when the accident occurred. One of them was a 37-year-old woman who paramedics brought to the hospital with minor injuries.
 
Yuma Police believes speeding and impairment appear to be factors in the accident.
