Kyle Steward Killed and Daphny Torres Hospitalized after Odessa Car Crash on Highway 385

 
ODESSA, TX (October 11, 2023) — A man identified as 35-year-old Kyle Wayne Steward of Horseshoe Bay died in a crash on Thursday, October 5.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident took place on U.S. Highway 385 at around 11:31 a.m.
 
DPS said Steward drove a 2006 Jeep Wrangler northbound on Highway 385. At the same time, 28-year-old Daphny Nicole Torres, of Odessa, drove a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis northbound on Highway 385. Then Steward hit the Mercury from the rear.
 
Steward did not use a seatbelt and the Ector County Commissioner pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
Emergency responders transported Torres to Medical Center Hospital in stable condition.
 
Officials continue to investigate the collision.
