EL PASO, TX (May 29, 2024) — A 21-year-old woman identified as Kimberly Alissa Espinoza died in a hit-and-run on Sunday, May 19.
 
According to the El Paso Police, the accident occurred at the 1500 block of Lee Trevino Drive just before 3:00 a.m.
 
According to the initial investigation, Espinoza tried to cross Lee Trevino outside a crosswalk in front of a bar.
 
At the same time, 25-year-old Leslie Lopez drove southbound on Lee Trevino. Then she hit Espinoza and then drove away, police said.
 
When police arrived, they discovered Espinoza lying on the sidewalk getting first aid. Paramedics transported her to a hospital where she died of injuries from the accident.
 
Meanwhile, a witness followed Lopez and called the police.
 
Police discovered Lopez on the 900 block of Duskin Drive. They arrested her and she now faces charges in the hit-and-run collision involving death.
 
In addition, police also arrested a passenger in her car on an unrelated traffic warrant.
 
The accident is the 25th traffic-related death in the city limits.
