Kiattisack Chanthavong Dead, Soukanh Mounivong Arrested after Amarillo Rollover Accident

 
AMARILLO, TX (October 23, 2024) — 59-year-old Kiattisack Chanthavong, of Amarillo, died in a rollover accident on Sunday, October 13.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2004 Infinity G35 traveled north on North Side Drive at an unsafe speed at around 7:36 p.m.
 
Then the driver failed to negotiate a curve. It caused him to lose control of the vehicle. After that, the Infinity went off the roadway and entered a side skid. It subsequently rolled over multiple times and hit a guardrail before coming to a stop upside down.
 
AMS arrived and pronounced Chanthavong, a passenger in the vehicle, dead at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, medical responders brought the driver, identified as 64-year-old Soukanh Mounivong, of Amarillo, to Amarillo Northwest Texas Hospital with minor injuries. He received treatment and was released.
 
After that, officers placed Mounivong under arrest for intoxication manslaughter. Then they booked him into the Potter County Jail.
 
Both Chanthavong and Mounivong wore their seat belts.
 
The crash remains under investigation.
