DALLAS, TX (January 22, 2025) — 23-year-old Katherine Kerl died in a pedestrian accident on Thursday, January 16.
 
According to the Dallas Police Department, the accident occurred shortly before 10:00 p.m. in the 3400 block of Gillespie Street near Cedar Springs Road.
 
Dallas Police said that two individuals walked toward a parked rideshare vehicle. Then, a driver attempted to maneuver around the parked car. The driver struck both pedestrians in the process.
 
Emergency responders transported both victims to a nearby hospital. Dallas County Medical Examiner confirmed that Kerl, who was one of the victims, succumbed to her injuries. The second victim is reportedly in stable condition.
 
The driver involved remained at the scene following the accident. Authorities have not yet filed any criminal charges, pending the results of the ongoing investigation.
