Julian Ibarra Killed in Phoenix Car Accident

 
PHOENIX, AZ (March 27, 2023) – The Phoenix Police Department identified 60-year-old Julian Ibarra as the victim who died after he was struck during a crash on 17 Freeway on March 23.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Wilmot Road shortly before 9:00 AM. Based on a report, a vehicle traveling north on the freeway’s off-ramp was trying to turn right onto Northern Avenue prior to the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, it collided with another car traveling southbound and making a left turn onto Northern.
 
Then, the first vehicle spun and left the roadway, striking Ibarra who was on the sidewalk.
 
As a result, Ibarra suffered major injuries. Crews transported him to the hospital, where he later died.
 
Authorities said impairment is not believed to be a factor with either driver. As of now, an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
