Juan Ortega Dead in El Paso Rollover Accident

 
EL PASO, TX (February 11, 2025) — A 60-year-old Lower Valley man, Juan Antonio Ortega, died in a rollover accident on Saturday, February 1.
 
According to the El Paso Police Department, the incident happened on 10 Freeway near Trowbridge Drive at about 10:00 p.m.
 
El Paso Police said Ortega drove a 1999 Ford Ranger eastbound on 10 Freeway. Then he lost control of the vehicle. After that, his truck veered off the highway, struck a curb, and ultimately dropped onto Gateway East Boulevard.
 
The Ford subsequently crashed into a 2019 Toyota Corolla, causing it to overturn.
 
The impact ejected Ortega from his truck and he died at the scene.
 
Authorities confirmed that five occupants in the Toyota, including three children, were not hurt.
 
Investigators are looking into whether a white semi-truck, also traveling east on 10 Freeway, was part of the incident.
 
The accident marks the fourth traffic fatality in El Paso this year.
