Juan Carranza Identified in Fatal Accident on Highway 1 at Dimeo Lane in Santa Cruz
SANTA CRUZ, CA (June 14, 2023) – Officials identified 34-year-old Juan Manuel Maldonado Carranza of Santa Cruz who died in a motorcycle accident on Highway 1 on June 7.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Dimeo Lane around 6:16 PM. Based on a report, Carranza was driving a 2013 Kawasaki motorcycle southbound along the highway at the time of the crash.
Due to unknown reasons, he began passing traffic on the left and crossing the solid double yellow lines onto the northbound lane. At the same time, a 2001 Toyota Solara slowed and began making a left turn into a private driveway. Subsequently, the Kawasaki crashed into the car’s left side, ejecting Carranza onto the roadway.
As a result, Carranza suffered grave injuries and died in the incident.
The 50-year-old woman driving the Toyota was not hurt.
Alcohol and/or drugs were not factors in this crash.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
