Josh Anderson Arrested, Iris Billy Dead after Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 73 near the Hon-Dah Casino

 
PINETOP, AZ (November 30, 2023) — Josh Anderson, a former White Mountain Apache police officer, is under arrest after a hit-and-run crash.
 
According to the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office, Anderson struck a pedestrian on Highway 73 near the Hon-Dah Casino at about 3:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Then he allegedly fled the scene.
 
The victim later succumbed to sustained injuries in the incident. Authorities only identified him as Iris Billy. They have not yet released his age or city of residence.
 
NCSO said investigators checked Anderson’s patrol vehicle. Then they noticed evidence on it consistent with the hit-and-run accident.
 
Fellow officers arrested Anderson on Friday night. After that, he submitted his resignation to the White Mountain Apache Police Department. Currently, he faces charges of criminal negligence, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and leaving the scene of a fatal crash.
 
The FBI handles the investigation of the fatal crash.
