Jose Ramirez Arrested in Fatal DUI Accident in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, NV (December 7, 2023) — Authorities arrested 51-year-old Jose Ramirez after fatal a DUI crash on Saturday, November 4.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, officers rushed to the area of Decatur Boulevard and Lake Mead Boulevard after a report of a crash at around 12:45 p.m.
Witness statements and evidence at the scene showed that a 2010 Honda Pilot SUV traveled east on West Lake Mead Boulevard. Then it began to veer to its right.
At the same time, a pedestrian was on the sidewalk on the south side of Lake Mead Boulevard. The Honda failed to remain in its lane. The vehicle went onto the sidewalk for a short distance before it hit the pedestrian and a fence.
Authorities pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
Ramirez, who was behind the wheel of the Honda, remained at the scene. However, he exhibited symptoms consistent with prescription drug abuse. Officials then arrested him on a charge of DUI resulting in death.
