Jonathan Mitchell Killed after Tucson Pedestrian Accident
TUCSON, AZ (December 19, 2024) — 38-year-old Jonathan Paul Mitchell died in a pedestrian accident on Sunday, November 24.
According to the Tucson Police Department, the accident occurred at the intersection of East Pima Street and North Alvernon Way just before 3:00 a.m.
Tucson Police said Mitchell tried to cross Alvernon Way at the intersection against a green traffic signal for north and south vehicle traffic. Then a Nissan moving north struck him.
The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Police said they determined that the driver was under the influence at the time of the crash. They also found narcotic paraphernalia near Mitchell’s body.
Paramedics transported Mitchell to the hospital in critical condition. TPD received notification on November 29, that he had passed away.
At this point, the TPD said there are no filed charges.
