John Washington Arrested in Fatal Bicycle Accident on Scottcrest Drive [Houston, TX]

Bicyclist Struck and Fatally Injured by John Washington in Houston

 
HOUSTON, TX (October 30, 2023) – The Houston Police Department arrested 66-year-old John Washington following a fatal bicycle accident in the 5900 block of Scottcrest Drive on October 14.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened around 6:15 PM. Based on a report, Washington was driving a red Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck northbound on Scottcrest Drive prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, a 62-year-old bicyclist was riding eastbound on Old Spanish Trail, against a red light. Washington crossed Old Spanish Trail on a green light and struck the man.
 
As a result, the bicyclist suffered grave injuries in the incident. Crews transported him to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he later died. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences did not yet release the victim’s identity.
 
Police arrested and charged Washington with driving while intoxicated.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
