Jesus Barraza Arrested after Fatal Speeding Car Accident in Las Vegas

 
LAS VEGAS, NV (March 26, 2024) — Authorities arrested Jesus Barraza after a speeding crash on Tree Line Drive that killed a teen on Monday, March 18.
 
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the incident occurred at the intersection of Tree Line Drive and Back Woods Road just before 9:30 p.m.
 
Investigators believe a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado traveled south at a high rate of speed on Tree Lane Drive. Then an unidentified 17-year-old man crossed outside of a marked crosswalk. The truck ended up hitting the pedestrian.
 
Emergency responders then rushed the teen to an area hospital, where they pronounced him dead.
 
The truck driver identified as 18-year-old Jesus Barraza, of Las Vegas, remained at the scene. They arrested him on reckless driving charges.
 
The incident represents the 40th traffic-related death of the year under the jurisdiction of the LVMPD.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
