Jerry Newton Killed in Motorcycle Accident in Rhome, Hit-and-Run Driver Wanted

 
RHOME, TX (March 14, 2023) Rhome Police identified 55-year-old Jerry Wayne Newton of Decatur as the victim who died in a motorcycle accident on Highway 287 on March 10.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened between Pioneer Parkway and Highway 114 around 7:15 AM. Based on a report, Newton was riding his motorcycle on the highway at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a vehicle struck and forced him past the shoulder, into the grassy median. Subsequently, the victim lost control and crashed while the vehicle left the scene.
 
As a result, Newton suffered grave injuries. Emergency crews transported him to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, where he died.
 
A witness who stopped to help Newton described the vehicle as a pickup as dark or silver-colored, pulling a white flatbed trailer with orange on the bottom.
 
As of now, Rhome Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the truck.
