Dale Costich, Jeremy Douglas Hospitalized after Longview Head-On Crash

 
LONGVIEW, WA (January 30, 2023) — Jeremy N. Douglas of Longview and Dale W. Costich of Cathlamet were injured in a head-on crash on Tuesday, January 23.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the head-on collision took place on Highway 4 just after 9:16 a.m.
 
WSP said 28-year-old Douglas drove his 2000 Toyota Camry west on Highway 4 near milepost 49 and the Bunker Hill Road exit. Then he crossed the center line and struck 75-year-old Costich driving a 1998 Plymouth moving in the opposite direction.
 
Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue and Longview Fire Department crews arrived at the scene. Then they extricated the two men from their cars.
 
Paramedics brought Douglas to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center. At the same time, they rushed Costich to PeaceHealth Southwest in Vancouver.
 
WSP said both drivers wore their seat belts. In addition, they said both vehicles sustained significant damage.
 
According to WSP, the cause of the crash is distracted driving.
