Motorcyclist Jacoby James Shoemaker Identified in Fatal Accident in Denton County
DENTON COUNTY, TX (August 20, 2024) – The Denton County Medical Examiner identified 21-year-old Jacoby James Shoemaker of Justin who died in a motorcycle accident on Highway 114 on August 2.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at approximately 11:28 PM. Based on a report, Shoemaker was driving a 2007 Yamaha YZF motorcycle westbound on the highway at the time of the crash.
Authorities said he was going at a high rate of speed. Due to unknown reasons, he struck the rear end of a 2017 Ford Fiesta at a red traffic light near Winding Meadows Drive.
As a result, Shoemaker suffered grave injuries and died in the incident.
The driver of the Ford Fiesta, 26-year-old Pedro Huerta Jr. of Justin, and his passenger, 27-year-old Myrnamelie Ortiz Malave, also of Justin, were not hurt in the crash.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
