Jacob Smith Airlifted after Longmont Motorcycle Crash

 
LONGMONT, CO (September 2, 2024) — 28-year-old Jacob Smith sustained critical injuries after a motorcycle accident on Friday, August 16.
 
According to Longmont police, the crash happened at about 8:41 p.m. near South Main Street and Jersey Avenue.
 
Longmont Police believe Smith rode a motorcycle south on Main Street. At the same time, another vehicle traveled north and tried to make a left-hand turn to go west on Jersey Avenue. Then the two vehicles crashed.
 
Emergency responders arrived and treated Smith on the scene. Then they transported him by ambulance to a medical center. After that, paramedics airlifted him to a Denver hospital in critical condition.
 
Loved ones made GoFundMe page to help Smith’s recovery. According to the post, Smith broke his back, lost his leg, and is now paralyzed. An update on the page on August 17 said that Smith was in the ICU with internal bleeding.
 
According to Longmont Public Safety, the driver of the vehicle initially left the crash and then later returned. They arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular assault.
