Ibis Acedo Arrested, Pedestrian Killed after Las Vegas Hit-and-Run

LAS VEGAS, NV (January 10, 2025) — Authorities arrested 19-year-old Ibis Acedo after a hit-and-run on Monday, December 30.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the accident occurred at about 8:00 p.m. near North Lamb Boulevard and Elm Avenue.

LVMPD said a 2007 GMC Sierra traveled north on Lamb Boulevard at a high rate of speed. At the same time, a 32-year-old man tried to cross Lamb Boulevard in a marked crosswalk.

Then the GMC veered out of its lane. After that, it hit the raised center median and struck the man. The force of the incident redirected the man northward onto the road.

Emergency responders brought the man to a nearby hospital. However, he later succumbed to sustained injuries and died.

Before the incident, police said that the GMC driver tried to flee a separate hit-and-run somewhere else in the valley. However, the driver, later identified as 19-year-old Ibis Acedo, remained at the scene of the second accident. He did not display any signs of impairment.

Authorities arrested Acedo. Then they booked him into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of reckless driving.

The investigation of the incident is still underway.
