Hector Olivares Arrested, Five Injured after Phoenix Speeding Accident

 
PHOENIX, AZ (February 25, 2025) — Authorities arrested 23-year-old Hector Alan Olivares after a speeding accident on Sunday, February 23.
 
According to the Phoenix Police Department, the incident occurred near 27th Avenue and Van Buren Street around 2:00 a.m.
 
Phoenix Police said officers tried to stop a white Dodge Charger driven by Oliveras near 27th Avenue and Van Buren Street. However, he refused to pull over and fled at high speed.
 
A police helicopter tracked the vehicle as it ran through multiple red lights. Then, the vehicle eventually crashed into three other cars near Central Avenue and Thomas Road. Emergency crews arrived and transported five people to the hospital with minor injuries.
 
Officers took Olivares into custody at the scene. He now faces felony charges for fleeing from law enforcement.
 
Authorities have not disclosed whether impairment played a role in the incident.
