Jacquion Daniels, Gene Curtis Injured in Jasper Car Crash
JASPER, TX (November 7, 2022) – Gene Curtis and Jacquion Daniels sustained injuries in a two-car crash on Highway 96 at Rev Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard on Sunday, October 30.
According to authorities, the accident happened just after 2:00 p.m. and involved a Mercedes and Honda Accord. An initial investigation revealed that the Mercedes, heading south on the highway, failed to stop at a red light. As a result, the northbound Honda crashed into the Mercedes as it was turning west onto the boulevard.
The driver of the Honda, Curtis, and his passengers, Daniels, suffered injuries. Medical personnel took them to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Another occupant of the Honda, Robert Phillips was not harmed.
Initially, it was believed Curtis had been ejected from the vehicle. However, authorities clarified that three men who were near the area of the accident actually pulled him out and helped until the ambulance arrived.
Jean Loubat, the driver of the Mercedes, did not sustain injuries from the accident.
Police are investigating the accident at this time.
