Gaylon Love Killed after Rollover Crash on Highway 302

 
WINKLER COUNTY, TX (April 29, 2024) — A 42-year-old man identified as Gaylon Love died in a rollover accident on Thursday, April 18.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal rollover crash took place on Highway 302 at Mile Marker 232 in Winkler County at around 1:35 a.m.
 
The preliminary report of the Texas DPS said that Love drove a Ram Pickup eastbound in the left lane of Highway 302. At the same time, 37-year-old Emmanuel Diaz-Ortega drove a Freightliner truck with a trailer westbound on Highway 302.
 
After that, Love went onto the wrong side of the roadway. Then her car collided into Diaz-Ortega’s vehicle. The impact of the crash caused Love’s vehicle to overturn. It also ejected him from his seat.
 
Love succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. Diaz-Ortega was not hurt.
 
Officers determined that Love was not wearing a seatbelt when the incident happened.
 
Texas DPS handled the ongoing investigation of the accident.
