CENTENNIAL, CO (April 1, 2024) — Authorities identified 62-year-old Garth Donato as the man killed in a pedestrian accident on Monday, March 25.
 
According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on East Arapahoe Road at South Dexter Street.
 
The sheriff’s office confirmed a pedestrian died from sustained injuries from the incident. On Tuesday, the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office released the identity of the victim.
 
According to the sheriff’s office, Donato tried to cross from the center median to the other side of the street with a shopping cart. Reports said he did not use the crosswalk.
 
The driver stayed on the scene and cooperated, said deputies. The sheriff’s office has not yet released if they will file any charges.
 
Deputies said that the scene was not well-lit. In addition, the accident occurred before sunrise and the roads were slick from the snowstorm.
 
At about 7:15 a.m., the sheriff’s office tweeted that they closed all lanes of East Arapahoe Road at South Dexter Street in Centennial due to the incident.
