Francisco Garcia Barragan Involved in Fatal DUI Crash in Kent

 
KENT, WA (December 18, 2024) – Authorities confirmed that 32-year-old Francisco Garcia Barragan of Federal Way is facing charges following a fatal crash on Highway 516 on December 8.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near the HOV bypass at approximately 5:00 AM. Based on a report, Barragan was driving a 2012 Nissan Altima at the time of the accident.
 
Due to unknown reasons, he veered off the left side of the road, struck a concrete barrier, and then crossed to the right side, hitting another barrier. The car rolled over and came to rest upside down, facing the wrong direction in the HOV lane. A second vehicle, a 2023 Toyota Tundra, struck the Altima.
 
As a result, a passenger in the Altima suffered grave injuries and died in the crash. WSP said the victim was not wearing a seatbelt.
 
Paramedics rushed the driver and passenger of the Tundra to Harborview Medical Center and Valley Medical Center for treatment.
 
Emergency crews transported Garcia Barragan to Harborview Medical Center with injuries. He is now facing multiple charges, including DUI, vehicular homicide, and vehicular assault.
