Fabian Vitolas Killed, Amanda Rodriguez and Christopher Dunn Injured in Lubbock Car Accident

 
LUBBOCK, TX (January 10, 2025) — 36-year-old Fabian Vitolas, of New Home, died in a two-vehicle accident on Saturday, January 4.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred near Highway 87 and County Road 7150 at about 9:35 p.m.
 
Texas DPS said Vitolas traveled west in a 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche on CR 7150, approaching the service road. Then Vitolas’ vehicle ignored a stop sign. It then went through the intersection and across the highway into the northbound lanes of Highway 87.
 
After that, Vitolas’ vehicle crashed with a 2017 Dodge Durango traveling north on the highway.
 
The driver of the Durango, identified as 40-year-old Amanda Rodriguez, of Lubbock, sustained minor injuries. Paramedics brought her to the University Medical Center for treatment.
 
A passenger in Vitolas’ vehicle, 22-year-old Christopher Dunn, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, suffered serious injuries. Emergency responders also brought him to University Medical Center.
 
The DPS report said the weather and road conditions at the time were dry and clear. The posted speed limit for that section of highway is 75 mph.
 
The investigation of the incident is still underway.
