Elmer Secenamorales Dead and Saul Valadez Hospitalized after Cle Elum Crash

 
CLE ELUM, WA (August 6, 2024) — A 21-year-old man from Mexico, Elmer Secenamorales, died in a three-vehicle accident on Saturday, July 20.
 
According to Washington State Patrol, the crash happened on Highway 97 on Blewett Pass at around 3:33 p.m.
 
WSP said a 2009 Nissan Altima driven by 27-year-old Saul Avila Valadez, of Guanajuato, Mexico moved northbound on Highway 97. Then it entered the southbound lane of the highway. After that, it collided with a 1994 Ford F-250 hauling a boat and a 2022 Ford F-250 hauling a trailer.
 
WSP report said the Nissan Altima had three passengers. One of them was Secenamorales from Chiquimulilla, Mexico, who died at the scene. Meanwhile, the two other passengers were not hurt. Officers identified them as 9-year-old Alexa L. Colchado-Ochoa and 27-year-old Giovanna J. Colchado-Ochoa. Both of them were residents of Guanajuato, Mexico.
 
Paramedics simultaneously brought Valadez to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with injuries. WSP later said that he might face some charges.
 
The driver of the 2022 F-250 was not hurt. Officers later identified him as 61-year-old Gregory F. Bretz, of Mammoth Lakes, California.
 
The 1994 F-250 driver, 45-year-old Jared E. Thayer and his 22-year-old passenger, Margaret Thayer, also did not sustain any injuries. They are also both Sequim residents.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
