PEORIA, AZ (November 3, 2023) — A driver died after a wrong-way accident on Loop 101 just before 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 29.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the crash happened on the northbound lanes of Loop 101. Authorities said the head-on accident involved a Chevy Silverado that drove the wrong way and a band tour bus hauling a trailer.
 
A local news source report said the bus carried a band called Piano Men: Generations, which performs in Billy Joel and Elton John tribute concerts.
 
Authorities said the wrong-way driver suffered serious injuries. Paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital where he later died.
 
Medics also transported two people from the bus to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
 
Five other people received treatment at the scene.
 
Detectives continue to investigate what led up to the accident. However, they said impairment appears to have played a role in the collision.
