Man Dead, Another Hurt after Snowplow Accident on Highway 115

 
FREMONT COUNTY, CO (February 6, 2025) — A driver died in a snowplow accident on Highway 115 on Thursday, January 30.
 
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the incident happened around 7:19 a.m. on Highway 115 near milepost 18, north of Penrose.
 
Investigators determined that a Subaru Outback traveled north on the snow-covered and slushy road. Then the driver lost control. After that, the vehicle rotated into the southbound lanes and collided with a southbound snowplow clearing the highway.
 
The impact crushed the driver’s side of the Outback. The vehicle subsequently came to rest on the east side of the road.
 
Emergency responders arrived and pronounced the Outback driver dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released his identity.
 
The snowplow driver, a 45-year-old man from Cañon City, sustained minor injuries but declined hospital transport.
 
The crash temporarily shut down the highway before officials reopened it. The Colorado State Patrol’s Vehicular Crimes Unit continues to investigate the incident.
