Donan Justice Dies after Abilene Hit-and-Run Accident on Highway 351

 
ABILENE, TX (March 8, 2024) — A 59-year-old man identified as Donan Myron Justice, of Abilene, Texas died in a hit-and-run on Thursday, February 29.
 
According to a press release from the Abilene Police Department, the accident took place on Highway 351 just before 6:00 a.m.
 
Abilene Police said Justice was in his wheelchair at the intersection of Highway 351 and the entrance to Walmart. Then a vehicle moving east struck him and fled the scene. After that, a second vehicle hit Justice and also did not stop.
 
Witnesses tried to help Justice. However, officers pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
Authorities arrested 37-year-old Robby Wayne Hale, of Clyde, Texas, at a home in Clyde in connection with the crash. Officers brought him to the Taylor County Jail. They charged him with Second Degree Felony Accident Involving Death.
 
They also arrested the second driver, 58-year-old John Daniel Gonzales of Abilene, and charged him with the same offense.
 
Officers continue to investigate the accident. Traffic investigators continue to search for the driver of a third vehicle for questioning.
