Derrick Allen Killed, Rodolfo Jamaica Arrested in Pedestrian Accident on Prosperity Avenue [Dallas, TX]

Derrick Allen Struck and Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver Rodolfo Jamaica in Dallas

 
DALLAS, TX (August 29, 2024) – The Dallas Police Department identified 47-year-old Derrick Allen who died in a pedestrian accident on Prosperity Avenue on August 18.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Stanley Smith Drive around 1:45 AM. Based on a report, Allen was walking west on 2800 Prosperity Avenue with an unidentified person.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a car driving quickly and attempting to pass another vehicle hit him. Police said the driver of the vehicle continued and did not stop to offer help.
 
As a result, Allen sustained grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
Authorities later identified and arrested the driver, 21-year-old Rodolfo Jamaica. Jamaica hit a house and a car in the 2400 block of Kathleen Avenue.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
