Cody Mobley Dead in BunaHead-On Crash on Highway 87

 
BUNA, TX (November 9, 2023) — A 19-year-old man identified as Cody Mobley, of Newton, died in a head-on accident on Friday, November 3.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened at Highway 87 near County Road 3870 at about 6:53 a.m.
 
Texas DPS said Mobley drove a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban south on Highway 87. At the same time, 44-year-old Leroy Bergeron, of Orange, drove a 2020 Peterbilt 365 north.
 
Mobley then went into the oncoming lane and crashed with Bergeron’s vehicle head-on. After that, Mobley drove into the west ditch where his car overturned.
 
A Justice of the Peace officer pronounced Mobley dead on the scene. Friends created a GoFundMe to help his bereaved wife and daughters.
 
Authorities said Bergeron was not hurt in the crash. The investigation of the incident is ongoing.
