Cindy Reyes Killed and Sanden George Arrested after Houston Car Accident

HOUSTON, TX (August 29, 2024) — A 41-year-old woman identified as Cindy Reyes was fatally struck in an incident on Sunday, August 18.

The Houston Police Department said the crash happened at 2300 San Jacinto Street near Hadley Street around 3:00 a.m.

Reports said that police patrolling in the area heard what they thought were gunshots. Yet, upon further investigation, they found a pedestrian on the sidewalk who had been hit.

The investigation determined that 35-year-old Sanden James George got into a physical altercation with his significant other. Then he tried to hit her with his car. However, instead, he fatally hit Reyes, who was on the way home from work as a nightclub manager in the area.

George then fled on foot. Witnesses told authorities that he fled northbound toward Downtown. Officers later detained him in the 1200 block of Jefferson.

HPD officers brought George into an area hospital for treatment and then took him into custody. They charged him with murder and assault on a family member.
