Christina Diamond Identified in Fatal DUI Crash in Mesa
MESA, AZ (May 6, 2024) – The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office identified 33-year-old Christina Diamond who died in a DUI crash on University Drive on April 18.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Crismon Road around 1:00 AM. Based on a report, Diamond was driving a Nissan Frontier near the intersection before the crash.
At the same time, 66-year-old David Lane was driving a Ford Mustang at over 100 miles per hour. Subsequently, Lane collided with the back of Diamond’s truck. The impact caused the Nissan to accelerate rapidly, roll over, and crash into a fence. The Mustang then continued, hit a power pole, and caught fire about a quarter of a mile away.
As a result, the crash ejected Diamond from the pickup. Emergency crews pronounced her dead at the scene.
Crews rushed Lane to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said he had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .23, which is nearly three times the legal limit. Officials will arrest and book him into the Maricopa County jail after his release from the hospital.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
We offer our sincere condolences to the bereaved family and friends of Christina Diamond.
