Joshua Soliz, Fakhria Kakar, and Three Children Hospitalized after Fatal Crash in Seagraves

 
SEAGRAVES, TX (December 10, 2024) — Joshua Soliz and Fakhria Kakar were injured in a crash on Tuesday, November 26.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened at about 3:26 p.m. at the intersection of FM 213 and FM 1780.
 
Texas DPS said 41-year-old Soliz, of Lubbock, drove a 2021 Chevrolet Express Van eastbound on FM 213. He approached the intersection with FM 1780. Then, a 2020 Toyota Highlander, driven by 38-year-old Kakar, of Cockeysville, Maryland, failed to yield the right of way. He pulled out onto the path of Soliz.
 
After that, Soliz’s vehicle collided with the passenger side of the second vehicle.
 
Both drivers sustained minor injuries. Paramedics brought Soliz to Yoakum County Hospital. Meanwhile, they brought Kakar to the University Medical Center in Lubbock.
 
An 11-year-old male passenger in the Toyota Highlander died at the scene due to sustained injuries in the incident.
 
Three other child passengers from Cockeysville, Maryland, also suffered injuries. Paramedics brought a 9-year-old female, a 4-year-old female, and a 3-year-old male to University Medical Center in Lubbock.
 
All wore their seatbelts in the accident.
 
Officials said that the weather and road were clear and dry when the accident occurred.
