Charles Ferree and Deolia Blandford Killed in Shelton Car Accident

 
SHELTON, WA (April 11, 2024) — Two people identified as Charles Ferree and Deolia Blandford died in a car accident on Saturday, April 6.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash took place on Highway 101 near Southeast Lynch Road shortly after 2:30 p.m.
 
Mason County Deputy Sheriff Matt Colbenson said a WSP trooper drove southbound on Highway 101 while responding to another incident. Then a car turned off of Southeast Lynch Road onto the highway and the trooper struck the car.
 
Two people died in the collision. According to the Mason County Coroner’s Office, they identified the two victims as 72-year-old Charles Ferree and 49-year-old Deolia Blandford. Both of them are from Ollala, Washington.
 
Blandford’s family said Deolia and Charles were friends and hiking buddies.
 
WSP said paramedics transported the trooper to the hospital as a precaution for his minor injuries.
 
The Mason County Sheriff’s Office handles the investigation of the accident. They will determine if speed was a possible factor in the collision.
