Carlos Lopez Killed in Tucson Motorcycle Crash on Saint Marys Road

 
TUCSON, AZ (March 26, 2024) — A 34-year-old man identified as Carlos Lopez died in a motorcycle accident on Saturday, March 16.
 
According to the Tucson Police Department, Lopez drove in the median lane heading westbound on Saint Marys Road near North Freeway. Then a Hyundai trying to make a left onto the freeway struck him.
 
First responders transported Lopez to the hospital in critical condition. However, he died from sustained injuries.
 
Investigators said the driver of the Hyundai identified as 33-year-old Daniela Marquez-Batista was not under the influence at the time of the accident. However, she did not have the right of way when she struck Lopez.
 
Officers later found out Lopez wore his helmet but did not have a valid driver’s license when the crash occurred.
 
Authorities cited Marquez-Batista for ‘causing death by moving violation’ and then released her.
