EASTLAND COUNTY, TX (July 11, 2024) — A 65-year-old Eastland woman identified as Brenda Lynn Lucas died in an accident on Monday, June 24.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred on FM 2214 near milepost 477 at around 11:00 p.m.
 
The Texas DPS said in a crash report that 29-year-old Keven Lee Howton, of Strawn, drove an SUV south on FM 2214. Then his vehicle left the center stripe in a no-passing zone. After that, it hit a sedan moving north on FM 2214.
 
Paramedics brought Brenda Lucas, a passenger in the sedan, to Eastland Memorial Hospital for treatment. Medical officers pronounced her dead.
 
Meanwhile, Howton and the driver of the sedan, identified as 74-year-old Donald Ray Lucas, of Eastland, sustained minor injuries.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the accident.
