CYPRESS, TX (January 14, 2025) – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office identified Brenda Ivey who died in an accident outside her home on Spring Cypress Road on January 10.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Grant Road around 10:00 PM. Based on a report, the victim was outside her husband’s car while he was backing out of their driveway.
 
HCSO said the man, Kevin Paul Ivey, knew that his wife was outside. Due to unknown reasons, he accelerated at an unsafe speed and the car lost traction backing out of the driveway. He hit her and continued in reverse before hitting a tree. The car came to a stop on top of the victim.
 
As a result, Brenda Ivey suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
Authorities arrested and charged Kevin Ivey with intoxication manslaughter, according to the Harris Co. Sheriff’s Office.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
