Bobby Spencer Identified in Fatal DUI Crash in Sun City

SUN CITY, AZ (December 28, 2023) – The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office identified 53-year-old Bobby Spencer who died in a crash on Sun City Boulevard on December 13.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at 109th Avenue around 5:30 PM. Based on the report, Spencer was a passenger in a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado speeding west on Sun City Boulevard at the time of the crash.

Officials said the vehicle went into the eastbound lanes to pass a slower driver. Subsequently, it swerved back into the westbound lanes and lost control. The driver then went off the road, onto the sidewalk and slammed into a 20-foot-tall palm tree.

As a result, the impact was so strong the tree was uprooted and fell.

As a result, Spencer died at the scene.

Emergency crews took the driver of the truck, 58-year-old Olivia Harris, to the hospital with a broken collar bone and an injured hand.

Deputies said they found three 12-ounce Bud Light cans in or near the pickup truck. Harris is now facing a manslaughter charge after her toxicology results showed she had a BAC of 0.170, more than double the legal limit.

As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing.

We offer our sincere condolences to the bereaved family and friends of Bobby Spencer.
