Mason Stewart, Angela Stewart Killed after Missouri City Car Accident

 
MISSOURI CITY, TX (July 8, 2024) — A mother and son identified as Angela Stewart and Mason Stewart died in a crash on Thursday, June 20.
 
The Texas Department of Public Safety said the accident happened at around 8:45 p.m. on Cartwright Road near Texas Parkway. It occurred when an officer responded to an in-progress robbery call.
 
Police said the officer responded to reports of an ATM being robbed. Then he T-boned the vehicle occupied by 33-year-old Angela Stewart and 16-year-old Mason as they were pulling out of a Dollar Tree parking lot. It is unclear if the officer’s lights and sirens were on when the accident happened.
 
Angela and Mason both died in the crash. The family of the victims said the tragic incident happened on Mason’s 16th birthday.
 
Paramedics transported the officer to a hospital and has since been released.
 
More than two hours after the incident, police said they found another person in the backseat of the patrol vehicle. It is unclear if the man was in custody.
 
The Texas Department of Public Safety handles the investigation of the crash and whether the officer followed the department’s policies.
