Alex Salgado Hospitalized after Tow Truck Accident in Eagle County

EAGLE COUNTY, CO (January 13, 2025) — A tow truck driver identified as Alex Salgado sustained injuries in an accident on Sunday, January 5.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the incident happened a little after 8:00 p.m. in the westbound lanes of 70 Freeway at milepost 158, near Wolcott.

CSP said that due to icy conditions, there were multiple accidents in the area. A tow truck driver arrived to assist a motorist who got stuck in the snow.

While the tow truck driver worked, a Ford 250 driven by a 28-year-old New Castle woman, struck the truck.

A CSP trooper arrived to investigate the incident. While the trooper was on the scene, the driver of the Jeep struck the trooper’s vehicle. It then pinned the tow truck driver between the patrol vehicle and the tow truck bed.

Paramedics then brought the tow truck to Denver Health. He suffered a broken pelvis, four broken bones in one leg, and internal injuries. They later identified him as 22-year-old Alex Salgado, of Gypsum. Loved ones made a GoFundMe to help him with his recovery.

The trooper managed to move out of the way and did not sustain any injuries
