Fadhi Ali, Abdullahi Abdi Fatally Injured after Amazon Semi-Truck Accident in Tonopah

 
TONOPAH, AZ (May 28, 2024) — Two Amazon workers, identified as Abdullahi Muhammed Abdi and Fadhi Hamdi Ali, died in a crash on Thursday, May 16.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the accident happened shortly before 2:00 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of 10 Freeway near 339th Avenue.
 
Arizona DPS said an Amazon tractor-trailer may have experienced a tire blowout that caused the driver to lose control. Then it struck a center column of an overpass bridge on 10 Freeway. After that, DPS said the semi-truck came to a stop in the median.
 
Investigators said two people were in the semi-truck. First responders pronounced the driver, 40-year-old Abdullahi Muhammed Abdi, from Colorado dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver identified as 35-year-old Fadhi Hamdi Ali, from Minnesota, died later at a hospital.
 
AZDPS said there was virtually nothing left of the truck cab after the accident and the trailers opened up. In addition, cargo is scattered all across the median and eastbound lanes of the freeway.
 
Officers closed the eastbound lanes of 10 Freeway for hours.
