Motorcyclist William Laird Ort Identified in Fatal Accident in Tucson
TUCSON, AZ (August 15, 2024) – Officials identified 80-year-old William Laird Ort who died in a motorcycle accident on Ajo Way on July 22.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at South 6th Avenue around 3:00 PM. Based on a report, the victim was riding his motorcycle eastbound on Ajo Way before the crash.
At the same time, a Jeep Cherokee was heading west on the same road. While Ort was making a left turn onto northbound 6th Avenue, the Jeep struck his motorcycle.
As a result, Ort suffered grave injuries. Emergency crews transported him to Banner University Medical Center, where he later died.
The driver of the Cherokee, a 36-year-old female, was not hurt in the incident.
Authorities issued the driver of the Jeep a citation for failure to stop for a red light.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
