Cyrus Fields Killed in Head-On Crash near Loop 335 and Farmers Avenue

 
AMARILLO, TX (September 3, 2024) — 75-year-old Cyrus Fields of Amarillo died in a head-on accident on Wednesday, August 28.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident happened near Loop 335 and Farmers Avenue at around 12:35 p.m.
 
Texas DPS said a 2005 Kenworth semi-truck traveled southbound. At the same time, a 2015 Ford F-150 driven by Fields moved northbound on Loop 335. Then the F-150 went into the southbound lane and crashed head-on into the semi-truck.
 
After the collision, the impact sent the pickup into the east ditch. Then it overturned and caught on fire. Officials said the truck became fully engulfed in flames in a short moment.
 
Meanwhile, the semi-truck came to a stop upright with significant damage. It blocked both the north and southbound lanes.
 
The Randall County Justice of the Peace pronounced Fields dead on the scene.
 
Paramedics transported the injured driver of the semi-truck to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the accident.
