74-Year-Old Anthony Thomas Killed, Amelia Napper-Kelso Arrested in Multi-Car Crash on 10 Freeway [Chandler, AZ]

Amelia Napper-Kelso Identified in Fatal Chandler Crash

 
CHANDLER, AZ (October 4, 2024) – The Chandler Police Department identified 74-year-old Anthony Thomas of Chandler who died in a multi-car crash on 10 Freeway on September 13.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Ray Road around 3:00 PM. Based on a report, Thomas was driving a Chevrolet Corvette in the right-turn lane of the off-ramp.
 
He was stopped at a red light near the off-ramp. At the same time, 58-year-old Amelia Napper-Kelso was speeding in a Mercedes-Benz SUV. Due to her speed, she rear-ended the victim’s Corvette. The impact pushed the Chevy into a GMC Yukon.
 
As a result, Thomas suffered grave injuries in the crash. Emergency crews transported the victim to a hospital, where he died a short time later.
 
Court documents show that Napper-Kelso had the smell of alcohol on her breath and could not stand up straight during a field sobriety test. Police arrested and booked her into a facility.
